We use recognized methodology within various subject areas that are investigated in connection with development plans/measures. Many of the topics that are to be investigated according to recognized methodology are covered by the Norwegian Environment Agency's handbook M-1941 - impact assessment of climate and environment. This has been recently revised, and in several areas the requirements have been tightened with regard to competence, use of methods and requirements for field mapping.
Our employees are very familiar with the new regulations, having both contributed to the process of preparing the guide within several subject areas and been an active contributor to the consultation process and follow-up afterwards. For the topics not covered by M-1941, we use methodology from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's handbook V712 Impact analyses where this is adequate for the subject area.
We also carry out environmental screenings (red-flag analyses) in the early phase, often in combination with mapping or a potential assessment of valuable nature in an area if necessary.
