By mapping the seabed and understanding geological conditions, potential risks and challenges can be identified early in the planning phase, helping to minimize hazards to both people and the environment, while optimizing resource use and costs.
With our vessels (Multicat, Geo Cat and Frøy) we can carry out assignments all year round, even under demanding weather conditions, along the entire coast of Norway - from the shoreline to 60-70 m water depth. The boats' stability and center of gravity, among other things when taking samples, ensure that the surveys are of good quality.
There is also very good penetration ability when probing through solid masses with great thickness.
In environmental surveys at sea, grab equipment with a reach down to 0.2 m in the surface sediment is usually used.
By using Vibrocorers or piston samplers, samples can be taken from deeper layers in the sediments. These surveys can be carried out at greater water depths.
With our new drilling vessel Multicat, which is a new 24 m catamaran, we can offer a vessel that is technically very advanced, robust, and easy to navigate even in bad weather. In addition, it satisfies the new strict environmental and emission requirements.
Both Multicat and Geo Cat have the latest generation of waterjets with dynamic positioning that make them easy to maneuver in narrow waters, and very effective during drilling operations and environmental sampling, including efficient and safe anchor handling in connection with shallow drilling.
Multicat is also equipped with two "Moon-pool" solutions that allow all shallow drilling and environmental sampling to take place through the deck in the middle of the boat. This increases efficiency and safety compared to operations over the side and behind the vessel.
