By leveraging our combined experience from power systems, transmission, onshore wind, electrification and offshore oil and gas installations, we are able to be an independent and multidisciplinary advisor in offshore wind.
We offer a wide range of services for offshore wind, including market consulting, due diligence, grid analysis, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and foundation design. For the connection of offshore wind to the onshore power grid, we also offer all necessary engineering services to ensure this.
Multiconsult is involved in all phases of the value chain, from idea and concept development through site supervision to decommissioning of facilities. We integrate design, fabrication and installation aspects early in the engineering process to enable an optimal series construction approach and deliverability.
We have been responsible for most of the license applications and environmental impact assessments (EIA) for coastal wind farms in Norway. This experience has made us an important discussion partner for the Norwegian energy authorities, NVE and OED, when it comes to developing regulations, guidelines, etc. for offshore and onshore wind power in Norway.
We have extensive experience from planning and assessment processes for projects within energy production and distribution, both nationally and internationally. We prepare license applications and environmental impact assessments (EIAs) within all subject areas.
Our advisors have a good overview of current legislation and good contact with public administration. In individual assignments, we tailor teams of employees with different professional expertise, and if necessary, obtain expert expertise from subcontractors.
In environmental impact assessments, we use recognized methods, software tools and basic data that provide the most objective presentation possible. We also place great emphasis on preparing a clear compilation of results and assessments of goal achievement that will result in a recommendation. This is important to highlight the different choices that decision-makers face.
Concrete structures have proven over time that they are suitable for use in demanding marine conditions. Our expertise in marine concrete structures has been gradually built up through our long experience as a contributor to the development of the oil and gas industry in Norway. Today, we use this expertise to enable new technology, such as offshore wind.
We are one of the leading players in Norway and the world with cutting-edge expertise in the complete design of marine concrete structures. Among other things, we have been involved in the design and engineering of most of the fixed-bottom concrete platforms (GBS) and floating concrete substructures that have been developed and built since the early 1970s. Our experience from the oil and gas industry has brought us naturally into the offshore wind segment. There we have experience with both floating and fixed-bottom solutions.
Concrete structures have proven over time that they are suitable for use in demanding marine conditions. Even though they are exposed to some of the most extreme environmental situations with waves, ice, earthquakes and water pressure, the structures are robust and almost maintenance-free.
Through our work, we have developed our own methodology on how to carry out the design process on such structures. Our design process has been systematically developed over many years with an emphasis on flexibility, traceability and transparency. This ensures that we have complete insight into and understanding of all steps in the design process. Our in-house developed design program and post-processor "MultiCon" was used in the design of the Troll A platform and is today recognized as a leading concrete design program worldwide.
We invest significant resources in research and development, both internal development and support for external players such as universities and research projects. We are continuously involved in several research programs and see this as an important investment and contribution to the further development of the profession.
We focus on developing cost-effective solutions. We work interdisciplinary, and in close collaboration with you, our customer, to realize your project in a profitable, safe and sustainable way.
We offer services within all disciplines and phases of design and development of marine concrete structures. Our broad experience includes, among others:
