The Ministry of the Environment's guideline (T-1520) for the treatment of air pollution in spatial planning requires studies in areas that are exposed to pollution, and provides recommendations on land use in different pollution zones.
Knowledge of air quality and dispersion conditions is important both when planning new polluting activities, such as roads and industrial plants, and new housing and other sensitive land uses.
Multiconsult can assist customers with assessments of the air pollution situation, calculations of emissions and dispersion, and assessment of measures that can reduce emissions or exposure.
We can calculate values for annual and winter averages, as well as various maximum levels in line with the Ministry of the Environment's guideline for the treatment of air pollution in spatial planning (T-1520).
In urban development projects, we can calculate the shielding effect of buildings and show the dispersion of emissions three-dimensionally, so that air quality at different floor heights can be assessed.
For road traffic, we use advanced models to estimate emissions from vehicles, and can, among other things, simulate how changes in congestion/traffic flow, traffic composition and vehicle fleet renewal affect emissions.
