For over ten years, from 2010, Multiconsult has worked on the planning and design of the new Deichman Bjørvika main library in Oslo. The building is designed as a passive house with low energy consumption, and aims to achieve a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to current standards.

Over six floors, Deichman Bjørvika offers experiences, technology and knowledge in all forms. Multiconsult, together with partners, has been responsible for much of the design at Deichman, from the sketch project to completion.

The building has five floors plus a basement, has a fantastic view of Oslo and the fjord, feels light and airy, and is part of the new Bjørvika. The most spectacular thing about the new building is an 18-meter cantilever that floats in the air without an underlying structure.
Key partners for Multiconsult in the assignment have been Brekke and Strand Akustikk AS, Civitas and Bollinger + Grohmann.
