The greenhouse is one of the three buildings that together make up the Urtekvartalet in Oslo. The new building has seven floors above ground level in addition to two floors below ground level.

At the top of the building there is a roof terrace and technical rooms. The building is 24,000 m2 and has flexible offices with a distinct technological appearance, in good harmony with a green and sustainable interior.
The facade consists mainly of anodized aluminum sheets, executed as sheet metal work. Eiendomsspar wants to create a future-oriented project based on the environment and sustainability. The greenhouse has achieved the environmental certification BREEAM-Excellent and energy label B.
The Urtekvartalet is one of Oslo city center's largest development properties being transformed into a modern campus area and future-oriented offices. The entire construction project is almost 45,000 m2 and also consists of the two buildings Fabrikken and Drivhuset. The greenhouse was completed in September 2024.
Multiconsult has been engaged by the client to prepare both the sketch and preliminary design. We have had the important premise subjects acoustics, energy, daylight, building physics, as well as BREEAM AP. In addition, Multiconsult has had the major consulting disciplines of structural engineering, geotechnics, HVAC, as well as water, sewage and stormwater. In the detailed project, Multiconsult was engaged by the general contractor Vedal Entreprenør AS with the same disciplines.
Among other things, Multiconsult has designed the cast-in-place basement and bracing walls in the basement.
The buildings in the Urtekvartalet have used Smart technology that ensures optimization of energy use and indoor climate using advanced sensor technology, forecasts and technical systems. For example, the sensors make it possible to measure presence, which in turn makes it easy to control both heating and cooling of the areas, as well as to streamline the use of meeting rooms and plan the cleaning of the buildings.
Multiconsult has also assisted with area control, where we have prepared area drawings per plan / tenants with the distribution of common areas at the Greenhouse and the joint use of the Urtekvartalet with the distribution of shares.
