Svein Bjørberg was honored on Thursday, August 31, for his work in standardization within the building and property sector. Standard Norway presented the awards to Svein and three others in connection with its 100th anniversary.

– I felt quite humbled when I received the award, it represents the construction industry, which is a very large industry, says Svein Bjørberg.

On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, Standard Norway instituted an award to give attention to people who have made extraordinary contributions to standardization.

– This year we have looked in the rearview mirror, which may be natural for a 100-year-old. This year's award winners are committee leaders who have shown exceptional dedication to creating engagement and raising standards in their respective areas, said Chairman of the Board of Directors of Standard Norway, Jon Sandnes, before calling Per-Arne Røstadsand, Kjell Ivar Bakkmoen, Svein Bjørberg and Olaf Østensen to the stage during the anniversary dinner at Oslo City Hall on August 31.

Svein Bjørberg has worked at Multiconsult since 1966, is professor emeritus at NTNU and also holds a number of other roles and positions. He began working actively with standards in the 1970s.

– An important factor was the need to systematize consequences and identify lifetime costs over time. In addition, learning to diagnose, i.e. prepare condition analyses of properties, says Svein Bjørberg.

Until recently, he has worked on the new EU standard for sustainable building renovation.

Reason for the award:
Svein Bjørberg has over 30 years of experience in the service of standardization. In addition to contributing to the development of standards, he is a very good ambassador for using them and spreading knowledge about them. He does this both through his professorship at NTNU, and through courses arranged by Standard Online, NBEF and others. He is a very good educator, and we have a lot to thank him for when it comes to spreading standard knowledge.
