Stena Don CS35 Floater

Stena Don C35 Floater

The Stena Don is a CS35 column stabilized floater delivered by Kværner Drill floor height 12 m Warnow Werft to Stena Drilling. The engineering and fabrication of the steel structures of the drill module is delivered by Nymo, as a subcontract to Hydralift.

Engineering services

Structures: Drill floor (height = 12 m), derrick (height = 51 m), supports for the equipment (like lifting cylinders and travelling equipment, heave compensator, riser tension system etc.) and lifting lugs etc.

Design calculations: ULS and PLS analysis, FLS analysis, including partial damage for 8 environmental directions, establishing accelerations and weibul parameters for each
direction, FEM analyses of main nodes, hand calculations of details and structural capacity of derrick under fire loads. All design based on NPD and NORSOK Rules.

Additional engineering contracts: Multiconsult has under separate contracts performed all global and local vibration and noise analyses and design of the Stena Don floater for Kværner Warnow, covering all critical areas including the drill module. The vibration analyses are based on detailed FEM models. Consequences for equipment, structures and personnel are identified, and relevant measures defined.
